Forever Tennis Brings Product Knowledge and Service to the
St. Louis Community
by Craig Tidwell
Forever Tennis opened its doors in Frontenac in 2016. Originally called “String ‘n Swing Tennis”, the shop transitioned to the name “Forever Tennis” the following year. Travis Bakai is the heart and soul of the business. The Ballwin, MO native attended Bellarmine University on a soccer scholarship, but later developed a passion for tennis while working at a pro shop at a resort in Kauai, Hawaii. This passion for the game and the racquet sports business ultimately changed the direction of Bakai’s life.
After returning to St. Louis for knee surgery, Bakai and his business partner saw an opportunity to open a new racquet sports specialty shop in Frontenac. Now the sole owner, Travis Bakai continues to operate the store while also teaching tennis and pickleball at Frontenac Racquet Club, and Westwood Country Club.
Forever Tennis has established a reputation for exceptional product knowledge and outstanding customer service. The store offers 24-hour racquet-stringing turnaround, with one-hour rush service also available for avid tennis players. Bakai credits Assistant Manager and Master Racquet Technician Michael Lesko as an important part of the store’s success and its commitment to serving the racquet sports community.
“At this point, our revenues are driven by about 80% tennis and 20% pickleball”, observed Bakai. He also added that their newly designed website will enhance the store’s connection to the St. Louis area market. The website can be found at: forever-tennis.com.
Bakai credits his success in the racquet sports specialty store business to the support and efforts of the Ward family, Michael Lesko, staff, and the many friends and family members who have supported him along the way.
